LORETTA J. WILLIAMS
"To Save the Soul of America: Reflections on Sheroes and Heroes"

A sociologist, educator and activist, Loretta Williiams directs the Gustavus
Myers Center at Simmons College. She is president of Racial Justice
Connection, a national anti-racism consulting organization, and served as
founding chair of the National Interreligious Commission on Civil Rights.
Dr. Williams has taught at the University of Missouri, SUNY-Buffalo,
Brandeis & the Women's Theological Center. She was director of the Dept. for
Social Justice of the Unitarian Universalist Association from 1980 to 1989.

The Gustavus Myers Center for the Study of Bigotry and Human Rights reviews,
and annually honors, outstanding books published in this area. The Center,
founded in 1984, was named in honor of the pioneering historian who authored
History of Bigotry in the United States (1943). The Gustavus Myers Award
commends works published each year which extend our understanding of the
root causes of bigotry and the range of options we as humans have in
constructing alternative ways to share power.

Guatemala Room (3rd floor), prepared by our cook Luis Alonso Guzman. Enjoy a
delicious lunch with friends! A small contribution is requested to help
cover lunch expenses.

DIRECTIONS/PARKING

The Community Church is located at 565 Boylston Street in Copley Square,
between Dartmouth and Clarendon Streets.

Parking is available on Sunday mornings at the Back Bay Garage (entrances on
Clarendon Street or St. James Ave.). We can provide a sticker to affix to
your parking receipt, and you will be charged $5.00 for 3 hours of parking.

By public transportation, take the Green line to Copley or take the Orange
line to Back Bay station. Community Church is a 2-minute walk from either
station.
