Mexico Presents Flawed Theory in Shooting Death of American Journalist

charges that Mexico's investigation into the shooting death of an
American video-journalist has presented a scientifically flawed theory

been infiltrated and exposed again. Shocking cruelty and footage of
experiments have been filmed inside HLS during 2007 and 2008; and

Boston, MA - Seven activists from Rising Tide Boston disrupted a
lecture at Harvard University being delivered by Arch Coal CEO Steve
Leer, who was speaking on the future of “clean coal” technology. The
activists attempted to enlighten the coal baron and the lecture
attendees on the true cost of coal extraction. "Arch coal is
participating in the destructive practice of mountaintop removal," says
Tyler Kinser, a member of Rising Tide Boston. "How can coal ever be
clean when entire communities are being poisoned and displaced by coal
extraction?"

On February 3, 2008 Jason Vassell, an African-American student at the
University of Massachusetts Amherst, was the victim of a racist hate
crime. He has been further victimized by a racist prosecution. We, a

Home Depot, Bank of America Executives Caught on Tape trying to Defeat the EFCA

Participants on the October 17 call--including at least one
representative from another bailout recipient, AIG--were urged to
persuade their clients to send "large contributions" to groups working
against the Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA), as well as to vulnerable
Senate Republicans, who could help block passage of the bill. Bernie
Marcus, the charismatic co-founder of Home Depot, led the call along
with Rick Berman, an aggressive EFCA opponent and founder of the Center
for Union Facts.
Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles releases policy change for changing gender markers

announce that the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles has amended
its policy regarding changing gender markers on state issued
identification such as driver's licenses or Massachusetts ID.
Defend the Hyde Square 7!

On October 21, 2008 seven Jamaica Plain anti-war and social justice
activists were confronted by police while standing in conversation on a
public sidewalk off Centre Street. When they asserted their right to
assemble in public and asked for reasons why the police demanded to see
their identification, they were arrested and charged with disorderly
conduct. The group, who has been called the Hyde Square Seven, has
fought the charges. Over the course of three hearings at West Roxbury
District Court, all motions to dismiss the charges have been denied,
and the Hyde Square Seven will stand trial on Wednesday, January 28 at
West Roxbury District Court.
Leonard Peltier Beaten In Prison

Native American political prisoner Leonard Peltier was badly beaten and
injured by other inmates after being moved to a different prison in
Pennsylvania. Here is an urgent call for action by Leonard's sister and
the Leonard Peltier Defense Committee.
UPDATE: 2/2/09: Leonard Peltier has been
moved back to prison in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, weeks after he was
attacked shortly after being transferred to another prison in
Pennsylvania.
