Remember al-Nakba
The Palestinian Catastrophe: 1948 to Today

Wednesday, May 13, 3:30pm
2nd Floor of Campus Center, Rm. 2545
UMASS BOSTON

On May 13, WEAR BLACK and join us in a
discussion of
the history of the Nakbah and the situation of Palestinians
today.

***Special
Guest OMAR BADDARwill
be speaking***

The Nakba, which means catastrophe in Arabic,
refers to the systematic campaign waged by Zionist paramilitaries
 between 1947
and 1949 to "empty" Palestine of its Arab inhabitants in order to set
up the exclusively Jewish state
of Israel. Some 800,000 Palestinians were
driven into exile.

Unfortunately, the forced expulsion and oppression
of Palestinians goes on today, as we witnessed with
Israel’s barbarous siege on
Gaza and the on-going expansion of Israeli settlements in the West Bank.

**Omar Baddaris the Director of the Palestine Cultural Center, a
Steering Committee member of the
US Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation,
and
a Board member of the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee of
Massachusetts.
Omar travels to the Middle East on a biennial basis, and his
last trip
to Israel/Palestine was in the summer of 2008.
