The arrest of Harvard Professor Henry Louis Gates by Cambridge Police
quickly turned racial profiling into a national issue overnight. While the
media focused its attention on the “beer summit”, everyday in Black and
Latino communities across the country, the police operate as an occupying
force – stopping, harassing and brutalizing anyone they wish. Sean Bell,
Oscar Grant, Annette Garcia and Kenny Lazo are just a few of the countless
victims of the racist killer cops who roam our streets with impunity.

brutality and discuss the role of the cops in your community.*

While social services like health and education are slashed year after year,
funding for the police, anti-immigrant forces, and the prison system
continually increase. In the last few years, stop-and-frisks, police
checkpoints, anti-gang injunctions, and various so-called “neighborhood
safety” programs and initiatives have dramatically increased all across the
country.

the capitalist state and its forces of repression, and how we can build a
people's movement to defeat them both.*
