The Mass Alliance of HUD Tenants (MAHT) is a statewide coalition of tenant groups in privately-owned, HUD subsidized housing. Founded in 1983, MAHT has saved more than 9,700 apartments as affordable housing statewide through tenant organizing, including several thousand in Boston. MAHT has also assisted tenants at Mishawum Park in Charlestown, South End Housing Cooperative and The Brownstones Alliance in the South End, Charlesbank Apartments in Mission Hill and Geneva Apartments in Dorchester, among others, achieve resident-controlled ownership over their homes.
