THE COMMUNITY CHURCH OF BOSTON
SUNDAY SPEAKERS FORUM presents...

Sunday, February 7, 2010
11:00am

Superbowl Sunday
DAVID CZESNIUK
"Crouching Tiger, Hidden Demons: Why Are So Many Athletes Being Exposed for
Personal Indiscretions?"

Over the past few years the world, and America in particular, has been
stunned by numerous cases of "athletes gone bad"--individuals at the heights
of their careers who are caught in the public eye engaged in deeply
concerning personal behavior. Is this a case of athletes thinking they are
above the law, rather above general, civil social order? Or is is it more a
case of the public opening its eyes, surprised to find its heroes as human
and vulnerable to moral dilemmas as the rest of us?

Dave Czesniuk joined Sport in Society at Northeastern Univ. in 2004 and
currently serves as Director of Operations. He oversees the integration of
all programs, research, marketing and fund-raising. During this time, Sport
in Society has expanded programs such as Athletes in Service and Master's in
Sports Leadership and launched an annual Power of Sport summit, where global
leaders in the sport industry convene to discuss strategies for making a
stronger impact in social justice and community outreach. A sports
psychologist, Dave has taught and developed leadership skills at West Point,
Marist College and Northeastern.
