This conference will link the struggles against war, racism and bigotry with the fight for economic justice. John Lugo is an organizer with Unidad Latina en Acción, an immigrant rights group in New Haven, CT. He has been part of organizing many demonstrations for immigrant rights, including May Day demonstrations of thousands of people. Lugo was extremely active in getting the New Haven Resident Identification Card approved in the city. He has been involved in many struggles for immigrant and worker rights in the region.
He was a primary organizer of the August 15th, 2009 demonstration against racial profiling in East Haven, CT that resulted in the police chief being suspended. Lugo is also a member of Colombia Action CT, which aims to end U.S. military aid to the corrupt government of Colombia, all in the name of the so-called "war on drugs".

Sandra McIntosh is a founding member of Work 4 Quality, Fight 4 Equity, an organization working towards improving the Boston Public School system and is a parent coordinator at English High School in Boston's Jamaica Plain neighborhood. She is the chair of the Coalition for Equal, Quality Education (CEQE) which has organized many actions in defense of public education. This notably includes last year's successful campaign to defeat the "5-zone" rezoning scheme which would have in essence re-segregated BPS by eliminating bus transportation for thousands of students.

Eugene Puryear was the 2008 vice-presidential candidate of the PSL. He is an active anti-war and social justice organizer in the Washington D.C. area. He is a volunteer organizer with the A.N.S.W.E.R. Coalition and has been active in the anti-war movement since high school when he led a walkout of over 800 students. Puryear has
been profiled by the Washington Post and interviewed by numerous other outlets such as WBAI, the Final Call newspaper and the Associated Press. He is regular contributor to Liberation, the newspaper of the PSL.

An organizer, fighter, student and mother of two - 26 year-old Frances Villar made history by becoming the first woman of color on the NYC Mayoral Ballot and received the highest vote for a socialist candidate since 1981.
Born in the Dominican Republic and raised in Washington Heights and the Bronx, NY, Frances Villar is many things - a mother of two, a pre-med student at Lehman College and a tireless organizer. From forming a tenant association in her Bronx apartment building to organizing against education cuts in the CUNY system to struggling
against racist police brutality - Frances Villar is a fighter.
