Thursday, October 7th will be the strike and day of action to defend
education nationally. Organizations of workers, students and the wider
community have endorsed actions across the country to defend public higher
education and K-12. Hundreds of billions are handed over to big banks and
war, but our public education system faces cutbacks, layoffs, fee hikes,
union-busting and privatization. See the national call to action and
facebook event here:

With attacks on ethnic studies becoming more severe, with dozens of Boston
teachers being forced to re-apply for their jobs, with immigrant students
facing attacks on their privacy, we need to get organized and fight
back. *Tomorrow
(Wednesday, August 4th)*, *activists in Boston will begin the process of
launching a city-wide coalition for October 7th actions to defend education.
*We don't know what these actions will look like, but we want your input!!
We want to be ready to hit the ground running with education, agitation and
organizing when the school year starts. Our various efforts will be more
effective if we come together, share ideas, coordinate and build united
actions.

*The meeting tomorrow night will be at Encuentro 5 in Chinatown at 33
Harrison Avenue (the UNITE building's) 5th floor beginning at 6:30pm. *Bring
friends, bring stories, bring ideas, and get ready to organize action!

In Solidarity,
Bryan
