**by Ambassador Lumumba Di-Aping, Deputy Permanent Representative of Sudan
to the United Nations

The talk will take place on *Monday, March 28th from 11:30 to 1pm at the
Campus Center, Room 3540*. UMASS BOSTON

Ambassador Lumumba Di-Aping has served in the Sudan Mission to the United
Nations since 2008. He is chief negotiator on financial and economic issues,
and represented developing countries as Chairman of the Group of 77 and
China at the December 2009 Copenhagen climate change conference. He was one
of the most influential figures in the climate debates – the BBC featured
him as one the four key players in 2009 -

Liberation Council of the Sudan People's Liberation Movement, a group that
helped end 20 years of civil war when it signed the Comprehensive Peace
Agreement in 2005. He has been instrumental in the referendum on South Sudan
and is currently working on the acceptance of South Sudan to the United
Nations. In 2010, he was a World Fellow at Yale University.
