REPORTBACK FROM THIS PAST SUNDAY'S SUMMER SPEAKERS SERIES PLANNING MEETING:

On Sunday, July 31st, we hosted an open meeting to review all the remaining
proposals for the Summer Speakers Series. There are 3 dates to fill in
August, as one of the Sundays (August 7th) is reserved for the annual
Hiroshima/Nagasaki Day Commemoration picnic. Everyone who wanted to propose
an event for August that they were willing to organize and produce, was
asked to give a summary of the proposed speaker/film/panel.

Those in attendance discussed the proposals at length, and the following
topics were selected:

August 14th: "3000 Years and Life: Walpole Prisoner 1973 Seizure of Power."
August 21st: "Esotericism, The Age of Aquarius, & The World Teacher"
August 28th: "Capitalism, Imperialism, & the Current Global Crisis"

We also had in attendance two guests, environmental activists from an
"Intentional Community" in Frankfurt Germany. After airing our differing
opinions regarding the proposed topics, many CCB members and friends stayed
to chat informally and enjoy the remains of an abundant brunch of fresh
salad greens and an array of exotic breads, stuffed pastries, tea, coffee,
and juice.
