To everyone concerned about health care,

As we all know, affordable, quality health care is difficult to come by, even in Boston, and being a community health provider has never been easy. Recent cuts to community programs and services has had a terrible impact on community health, and has made community and public health work more challenging. This is sure to be compounded by the new attack we face on Medicaid and Medicare.

In the last couple of weeks, Boston area health advocates and providers have recently come together to form the Occupy Boston Health Justice Working Group to support and mobilize with the Occupy Movement for health justice, focusing on the social determinants of health, access to health care, and to support on the ground care provision that the Occupy Boston Health Team is being provided in the camp. We are planning a Day of Action for Health Justice on November 12th @ Dewey Square, featuring...

9am- Free Health Screening - get your blood pressure & blood sugar checked, and flu shot if you need one!

NOON- Speak Out - Open mic for people to talk about their experiences not only in the health system receiving or providing care, but also more broadly about the state of health in our communities.

1pm- March- Health Care is a Human Right! Stops on the march will focus on funding cuts to the health safety net, including Medicare and Medicaid, as well as corporate control of health care delivery that hurts patients and limits providers' ability to take care of their patients. We will be accompanied by a deeelightful marching band.

For more info, or if you want to help out, you can either contact the work group at: healthjusticebostonWG at gmail.com or can also find them online at: healthjusticeboston.org.

Hope to see you this Saturday!
