BLS Youth CAN's 6th Annual Climate Summit at MIT
Youth Action for Sustainability

When: Saturday, May 12th 9:00 A.M. – 3:30 P.M.
Where: MIT Stata Center - 32 Vassar Street, Cambridge (2 blocks from  
the Kendall square Redline)
How: Register online at www.blsyouthcan.org

Over 65 schools. Event is free, breakfast & lunch included.

Summit actions: Summit actions include support for public  
transportation, as well as the iMatter Trust Campaign, a legal  
challenge by youth plaintiffs seeking to compel government action on  
climate change.

Workshops Include: Sub/Urban Justice, who says "For too long the  
Environmental Movement has been separate from the Social Justice  
Movement. Join Sub/Urban Justice for an workshop connecting these  
topics around our youth-led diesel pollution reduction campaign", the  
Boston Collaborative for Food and Fitness’ who will teach youth about  
how to advocate for healthy food options and choices, The Beehive  
Design Collaborative, will focus on collaborative graphic design for  
movement building, the Environmental Justice League of Rhode Island,  
who will lead a workshop on environmental racism, and many more.

Artist Heather Ackroyd (http:// www.ackroydandharvey.com/) will work  
with summit attendees around public art and sustainability.

Other activities: Free photo booth, face painting, green band, give- 
aways, t-shirts & more.

Invited speakers include: Governor Deval Patrick, Senate Candidate  
Elizabeth Warren

Environmental Career Exploration Symposium: We’ve partnered with the  
Boston
of Clean Energy/Clean Tech, Natural Resource Conservation, and  
Community Action to the Summit. The green professionals will be on  
hand to lead afternoon workshop sessions and meet face-to-face with  
high school students and young adults to share information about their  
occupations, and the basic skills and requirements necessary for a  
green career.
Collaborative for Food and Fitness and the Boston Youth Environmental  
Network to bring an Environmental Career Exploration Symposium, with  
30 environmental professionals.
We’ll also be highlighting an ambitious initiative: a proposal for a  
shared green roof facility, called The Boston Sustainability Center.  
We are very proud to announce this
collaborative, youth-led project to create a community resource aimed  
at educating students and teachers in Boston and beyond about  
sustainability.
