DOCUMENTARY FILM ON CHINA: "The Concrete Revolution"

This film gives a realistic portrayal of the lives of Chinese  
construction workers in Beijing during the building boom in the runup  
to the Chinese-hosted 2008 Olympics.  The filmmaker focuses on  
personal interviews of Chinese migrant laborers and working people.   
After the film showing, discussion will review the subsequent Chinese  
national labor laws, which are currently being refined and  
implemented.  There will also be a brief review of current topics  
such as the sensational Gu Kailai trial and the preparations for the  
all-important 18th Party Congress late this year..

7 pm, Thurs. Sept. 13, China Study Group at the Center for Marxist
