Hey fellow activists and organizers,



I know I'm usually promoting SoJust - but that's not my actual day job. I
am the Senior Manager of Events and Donor Engagement at Gay & Lesbian
Advocates & Defenders. We have our annual fundraising dinner coming up on
Friday, October 26th. We typically have about 50 volunteers, so it’s a
great opportunity to network with other young professionals in the area.

*WHAT: The 13th Annual Spirit of Justice Award Dinner *

Since 1978, Gay & Lesbian Advocates & Defenders has been litigating,
advocating, and educating throughout New England in all areas of lesbian,
gay, bisexual and transgender civil rights and the rights of people living
with HIV/AIDS.



*WHEN: Friday, October 26, 2012*

* *

***If you are available to assist in the office – we are looking for
volunteers on Wednesday, 10/24 or Thursday, 10/25 (12noon-8pm) – please let
me know via email.*



*VOLUNTEERS ARRIVE:*

At either 4PM or 5 PM and depart as early as 10PM and no later than 11PM
(clean-up crew may work a bit later, but won’t work as much during the
event).

We need volunteers to work registration, greet & usher guests, as well as
set-up and clean-up.



*EVENT TIMELINE:*

   - Private Major Donor Reception 6 PM
   - General Reception 6:30 PM
   - Dinner 7:30 PM
   - Dancing 10 PM

Accessible by T, Green Line and Orange Line, and bus – travel & parking
details will be sent to volunteers that confirm attendance.  We appreciate
you taking the T if possible, but a limited number of parking passes are
available - request one when you register to volunteer.

*THIS YEAR’S HONOREE:
*GLAD is pleased to announce that this year’s *Spirit of Justice Award will
be presented to** Reverend Irene Monroe.  *The Spirit of Justice Award was
created to recognize one individual whose work and achievements reflect a
profound dedication to our ideal of a just society. We are pleased to
honor Reverend
Irene Monroe - nationally renowned African American lesbian activist,
scholar and public theologian – with the 2012 Spirit of Justice Award. Read

*TICKETS:*

*Volunteers attend for free.*  If you’d prefer to purchase a ticket and not
volunteer, individual tickets are $225 and may be purchased online at
www.glad.org/events. A very limited number of subsidized tickets are
available at $75 each. If you are interested in a subsidized ticket please
contact Robbie Samuels at rsamuels at glad.org.

1,000 progressive leaders in law, business, community, philanthropy, and
politics.
