Greedy Lying Bastards, a provocative new documentary about climate change,
opens at the Coolidge Corner Theatre on Friday, March 8.
Directed by Craig Rosebraugh, the film investigates the reasons behind
stalled efforts to tackle climate change despite consensus in the scientific
community that it not only exists, but is a growing problem moving us toward
the brink of disaster. Focusing on the influence of Exxon and the Koch
brothers, Greedy Lying Bastards documents the impact of an industry that has
continually put profits before people, waged a campaign to thwart measures
to combat climate change, used its clout to minimize infringing regulations
and undermined the political process in the U.S. and abroad.
Filmed in the US, Tuvalu, Peru, England, Uganda, Kenya, Belgium, Denmark and
Germany, Greedy Lying Bastards features interviews with top U.S. climate
scientists, industry experts and international political delegates including
UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and former EPA head Christine Todd Whitman,
as well as people personally affected by the changing climate and leading
climate science skeptics.
