[act-ma] Victoria Brittain to speak on Women and the War on Terror

The British writer Victoria Brittain is a former editor at The Guardian newspaper, the co-author of the play Guantanamo: Honor Bound to Defend Freedom and co-author (with Moazzam Begg) of his Guantanamo memoir.  She will be visiting the United States to talk about her new book, Shadow Lives: The Forgotten Women of the War on Terror.

She will be speaking at  venues in the Boston area and Northampton that are open to the public:

Saturday April 6, 6 pm at the Islamic Society of Boston Cultural Center (100 Malcolm X Blvd., Roxbury) - co-sponsored by the ACLU of Massachusetts.

Sunday, April 7, 11 am at the Community Church of Boston (565 Boylston Street, Boston).

Wednesday, April 10, 7 pm at Broadside Books (247 Main Street in Northampton).

Wednesday, April 17, 7 pm at the Cambridge Forum (3 Church Street in Cambridge).

Shadow Lives has been described as “a uniquely powerful and moving account of the tragic consequences of policies which flout fundamental rights and the rule of law.  It adds a new and deeplydisturbing dimension to the story of the response to 9/11” (Sir Geoffrey Bindman QC).
