Film and Discussion "5 Broken Cameras"
Wednesday, June 19 at 6:45 PM
Watertown Citizens is proud to present, "5 Broken Cameras", a documentary by a Palestinian farmer, Emad Burnat, chronicling non-violent resistance in the West Bank village of Bil'n. It will be shown on Wednesday, June 19 at 6:45 PM at the Watertown Free Public Library.
For more than five years, as Gibreel, his son, grows up, Burnat watches from behind the lens as olive trees are bulldozed, protests intensify and lives are lost. One camera after another is shot at or smashed, and each camera tells a part of his and the community's story. ''I feel like the camera protects me,'' he says, ''but it's an illusion.'' The film was nominated for an Academy Award in 2013.
