Greetings!
Greetings today on this winter solstice, marking the turn of the year - the shortest
day!  I would like to end 2015 by personally thanking you for supporting Cambridge
Forum throughout the past 12 months.  This support comes in many forms - attending
our events, spreading the word to others and providing funds for our future.
I am grateful for all the generous donations we have already received, but it's 
time to remind all you procrastinators out there that "time" is ticking away. The
end of the year swiftly approaches and CF is entirely dependent upon your donations
in order to continue doing what we do, which is keeping you informed and engaged!

While you are looking ahead - mark your calendars for the next CF event on January
27 at 7 PM.  This event opens a new series which will examine the implications of
"Deep Globalization" with all its far-reaching ramifications, from food to communications,
from bees to drones.
It was delightful to see such a great turnout for Richard Blanco's evening of poetry
and prose on December 16.  If you missed "The Cuban Connection" I will keep you 
posted about when the program will be available to listen to and when the youtube
program is free to watch. Stay connected and check the website for the latest CF

INFILTRATING THE TERRORISTS' NETWORK: PRIVACY VERSUS SECURITY
After the Paris attacks, many felt that the world had entered a new and terrible
 "reign of terror". We start our new "Deep Globalization" series by considering 
the challenges of balancing security concerns with privacy protection.  How do we
go about locating terrorists, who use encryption to communicate and even to coordinate
attacks, and at the same time, safeguard our own personal data. Our speaker will
 be Greg Nojeim, Director of the Freedom, Security and Technology Project at the
 Center for Democracy and Technology, a Washington, D.C. NGO dedicated to Internet
freedom.  Greg specializes in protecting privacy in the digital age, against intrusion
by the government.   He leads CDT's cybersecurity work, testifying in the U.S. Congress
on the impact of cybersecurity proposals on privacy.
The event will take place at 7 PM in the Parlor at 3 Church Street in Cambridge 
MA 02138.
