*Greetings from Kate*
Dear Democrats,

One hundred days...

So much is going through my mind as I sit here reflecting on what is
happening in this country. The Resistance continues.

People continue to ask what they can do to make a difference. Here is my
five point pitch to people:
- Citizen Activism: contact your legislators, contact other people to
contact their legislators, contact other people's legislators, support the
free press.
- Campaign Activism: volunteer for, and donate to, candidates who share
your goals, both in municipal elections here in Mass, as well as partisan
elections here and across the country.
- Party Activism: get involved with your local Democratic Committee and
more. Attend the State Convention.
- Issue Activism: connect with an organization that shares your goals.
- Voter Registration: the more people vote, the more Democrats win - bring
voter registration forms to rallies, talk to neighbors, set up an activity.

* Pick an activity that fits your skills and interests. Don't try to do
everything. Do something. the worse thing you can do is nothing. *

I'll highlight a couple of things right now. There are Climate Action
Mobilization activities across the country on Saturday. Boston or DC and
many other places have rallies. Talk with people. Register voters.

The Democratic Party needs help at our Beacon Street office. Look at the
schedule below. Even a few hours can make a big difference.

Democratically yours,

Kate Donaghue

PS Events and schedules change rapidly. Matt and I work hard to get the
most up to date information, but sometimes we don't receive notices of
changes. Weather can cause cancellations and postponements as well. If in
doubt, watch MassDems calendar and check with the organizers.

*Ideas for Committees - Facebook*
There are many ways to utilize facebook fro Democratic committees:
- Have a facebook page or group.
- Use facebook events to publicize specific activities.
- Ask others to share events.
- Encourage members to post about Democratic activities.
Remember that social media is just one way to publicize your Democratic
activities. E-mail, earned media and personal contact all work in
conjunction.
Remember, do something and tell people about it.

*Help the MDP Prepare for the Convention - Office Volunteers Needed*
Caucuses have been held and platform hearing are coming to a close. We need
volunteers to help prepare for the Convention. Volunteers are always needed
at the Mass Dems office on Beacon Street. The party is offering weekend,
weekdays and weeknight shifts as we go into these critical days. Wednesday
is especially designated as a volunteer day at the office. We always have
fun! RSVP here:

*Massachusetts Democrats Work to Combat Trump's Disastrous First 100 Days*
>From the Democratic Party...
BOSTON - While President Trump fails to live up to any of his promises
during the first 100 days of his administration, Democratic leaders and
elected officials in Massachusetts are steadfast in their work on behalf of
residents and working families and standing up to the regressive Republican
agenda. "We have a President who lies every day so it should be no surprise
that his first 100 days have been chock full of broken promised to the
American people and working families across the nation," said Massachusetts
Democratic Party Chair Gus Bickford. "Luckily, here in Massachusetts, we
have a delegation focused on an agenda that actually puts our residents and
working families first, not corporate interests."

See below for information on what our delegation has been doing.
Here are some of the promises Trump has broken:
- Trump promised he would drain the swamp, but instead he's filled his
administration with billionaires, Wall Street bankers, lobbyists and the
same Washington insiders he railed against during the campaign.
- Trump promised better health care that would cost less and provide more
benefits, but instead he backed a bill that would have thrown 24 million
off of their health care and driven up premiums for older Americans, all
while giving tax breaks to the wealthy.
- Trump promised he would deliver for the "forgotten man," but his budget
would cut funding for vital services like job training, Meals on Wheels,
and disease research to finance yet another tax break for the rich.
- Trump promised he would focus on manufacturing jobs. Instead, he proposed
a budget that axes job creation programs, slashes job training, and defunds
economic development.
- Trump promised Mexico would pay for the wall, but instead he's trying to
get U.S. taxpayers to pay for it in the latest government funding bill.
- Trump promised he would get tough on outsourcing and trade, but he has
failed to stand up to China and continues to hire foreign workers at his
resorts like Mar-A-Lago.

*Submitting Events*
Please send us your Democratic events. We want to publicize what you are
doing. We usually go to press on Friday AM, so make sure you send your info
no later than Thursday evening to get into that week's issue.
1) Use subject line "For the Dispatch"
2) Put your event information in text format in the body of the email.
Please include start time, end time (if any), location (with street address
for GPS), event description (it's good to mention
food/drink/donations/RSVP), and a link to more info.
3) Send to DDemDispatch-owner at yahoogroups.com

Note that unlike some other Yahoo groups, replies and other comments sent
to us at ddemdispatch-owner at yahoogroups.com come only to us and are not
published.

The Democratic Dispatch is a more or less weekly e-mail newsletter for
Democratic events across the state. Your editors are Kate Donaghue and Matt
Shear. Pace Willisson handles the tech stuff. We edit this as volunteers as
our way of promoting the Democratic Party, Democratic candidates and the
Democratic Platform. The positions represented in the regular "Greetings
from Kate" or "Greetings from Matt" reflect our personal positions, and not
those of the Democratic Party.

Thanks! Kate Donaghue (and Matt Shear)

*Mass Delegation Working for Us*

CONGRESSMAN BILL KEATING authored a piece for his Democratic colleagues on
the House Foreign Affairs Committee calling for a thorough investigation
into Russian interference in the 2016 election.

malice" that would strip health insurance from 24 million Americans and get
rid of addiction and mental health services many rely on.
CONGRESSMAN STEVE LYNCH spoke out against the federal hiring freeze and how
it negatively impacted our nation's veterans seeking to continue their
dedicated public service to our country by entering the federal workforce.

that depend on them.

public debate surrounding the misinformation campaign of the Trump
administration, encouraging voters to continue to protest and stand up for
what they believe in.
CONGRESSMAN RICHARD NEAL introduced bipartisan legislation to strengthen
the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit to help improve access to affordable
housing for low-income individuals.
