*Come Celebrate Chinese New Year!*

*The Erhu, Pachamama Alliance and environmental preservation*



Come celebrate the Chinese New Year and traditional Chinese music.  "China
and the environment" will be the theme of an overview of China's
environmental policy by Duncan McFarland.   A powerpoint presentation by
Mary Klug entitled “China and the Environment: Chinese People Care” will
describe her experiences working with the Chinese people on environmental
sustainability with the Pachamama Alliance.  Emily Dong will talk about,
"Chinese New Year and China's Traditional Culture."



*Zhantao Lin* will perform traditional Chinese music on the *erhu*, a
two-stringed bowed musical instrument.  Zhantao is a renowned performer and
teacher and a member of the Chinese Musicians Association.  He has
performed broadly, including the MFA, Peabody Essex  Museum and Lincoln
Center.  In 2019 he was awarded the title, Blodgett Visiting Artist by the
Harvard Music Department.



*Speakers:* Mary Klug and Duncan McFarland; both have many visits and long
ties to China.  A better understanding of rising China is critical in
today's world and building personal relationships is imperative, especially
as tensions increase between the governments.  Emily Dong is an organizer
for peace and justice, born and raised in Massachusetts.  She is a member
of the Organization for Positive Peace which aims to make a contribution in
the struggle for positive peace, which is not just the absence of tension
but the presence of justice.  She is a recent graduate from Cornell
University.
