Supporters of Julian Assange, the founder of WikiLeaks, will rally at Park
St Station at 11am on Monday, February 22, calling for the charges to be
dropped against Assange. At 11:30 they will march to the office of the
Boston Globe, at One Exchange Place, on the corner with Congress St, to
protest the media blackout on the Assange case.

This is the most important press freedom case of our time and the press
should be covering it. WikiLeaks has released massive amounts of important
information, including about US war crimes, which news outlets have used to
do their work.

Right now, Julian Assange is waiting in Belmarsh Prison in London for the
US to appeal the UK's refusal to extradite him to be tried under the
Espionage Act. The Justice Department has said they intend to pursue the
case, though some people hold out hope that, when Merrick Garland gets in,
he will decide to drop the case, which would mean that Assange would go
free.

In the meantime, he is being held in solitary confinement in a very cold
cell without winter clothes, in close proximity to prisoners with Covid.

Write Biden at WhiteHouse.gov/contact to demand he drop the charges.
Freedom of the press is an important part of our democracy.
