Join Gabriela Cartegena, CLVU Communications Co-Director, who recently
returned from a delegation to witness the historic January 27th Honduran
presidential inauguration. The new president, Xiomara Castro, was recently
elected after decades of Honduran people-power and grassroots activism
seeking political change away from a long history of right-wing,
Nationalist, neoliberal, US-backed, narco-traffic financed, dictatorship
that has made Honduras one of the most dangerous countries in the world.

Come hear about this historic event on Zoom.
Thurs March 17 from 5:30-7pm

Speakers will include:
- Jose Artiaga, Salvadoran civil war refugee and co-founder of SHARE
Foundation which coordinated the delegation
- Amy Argenal, Nicaraguan, UC Davis Human Rights and Migration studies
professor and activist, who accompanied the Guapilanol fight for over 5
years
- Mercy Ayala Claros, human rights investigative journalist with Radio
Progreso and Radio Erick. Mercy was instrumental in liberating 8 land and
water defenders who were illegally incarcerated for their activism against
mining companies threatening their local source of clean river water.
- Gabriela Cartagena, US Born, Salvadoran/Honduran housing justice
organizer with City Life Vida Urbana, Immigrant Rights activist with
Movimiento COSECHA, and photographer
