Mass Action Against Police Brutality <info at maapb.org> writes

This Sunday, October 30th marks six years since Boston police officers
Garrett Boyle and Kevin Finn shot and killed Boston resident Terrence
Coleman during a mental health check-up. Since that day Hope Coleman, an
eyewitness, has disputed the police narrative that Terrence Coleman was
attacking EMS workers and police officers with a knife at the time he
was shot.

Then Suffolk District Attorney Dan Conley closed his investigation of
the shooting and determined it was justified. His successor Rachel
Rollins continued the tradition of denying justice to victims and now
current DA Keith Hayden is aloof to the call for justice.

The family has been demanding the case be reopened and Boyle and Finn be
prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. In 2018, Hope Coleman filed
a federal lawsuit against the City of Boston, the Boston Police, and
others for the wrongful death of Terrence Coleman.

Suffolk County Prosecutor's office has done nothing to investigate the
case of Terrence Coleman or other victims of police violence whose
families are demanding their cases be reopened. The civil suit, now 4 and
half years old, has not been resolved.

Hope Coleman has been traveling around the country speaking out about
her son and on behalf of other victims of police brutality, from
Minneapolis to the US Department of Justice in Washington DC.

Supporters of the Coleman family have been also been demanding that
Peters Park the park across the street from where Terrence was killed be
renamed Terrence Coleman Park by the City of Boston to commemorate
Terrence's life, to attone for the senseless death from a 911 call, and
to recognize Boston's own connection to the national dialogue around
police brutality.

The family and supporters will hold a vigil open to the public at 4pm,
Sunday, October 30th at Terrence Coleman Park (aka Peter’s Park) in the
South End of Boston on the 6 year angelversary of Terrence Coleman.
