"The Poets' Theatre Reads T. S. Eliot's THE WASTE LAND"
with Poets' Theatre*
(Paula Langton, Lloyd Schwartz, Ken Cheeseman, & David Gullette)

2022 is the centenary year for the publication of T. S. Eliot's
ground-breaking poem THE WASTE LAND, a modernist collage that captures
the spiritual void and cultural apathy in England after the unimaginable
slaughter of World War I. The poem is a collection of voices, and The
Poets' Theatre, whose mission is to bridge the gap between the worlds of
Poetry and Theatre, will pay homage to the crazy-quilt that makes up the
poem. Our cast includes two accomplished poets and two of Boston's best
actors.

*Protesters Demanding Fundamental Change to Iran’s system of Government*

For 43 years, the Iran regime has turned a deaf ear to the demands of
its people. Since September, when 22-year-old Mahsa Amini died while in
the custody of Iran’s so-called morality police, protesters have been
demanding fundamental change to the country’s system of government. Dr.
Moghadam will put into perspective the Iranian uprising, the
sustainability of the protests, and how they may affect other Middle
Eastern countries.

Valentine M. Moghadam is Professor of Sociology and International
Affairs at Northeastern University where she specializes in the
sociology, political economy, and gender politics of the Middle East and
North Africa. Her research areas include globalization and development;
transnational movements; the political economy of gender in Middle East,
North Africa, (MENA); revolutions and social movements; and citizenship.
She is the author of four books.

*“Fighting Fascism:
What's Next in Electoral Battle”
with Mark Solomon*

The 2022 midterm elections will be a milestone in the fight for
democracy. But that fight is far from over. All progressives must now
build a winning strategy to establish and consolidate a permanent
progressive majority. (Note: that is subject to change as circumstances
change.)

*• Mark Solomon* is Professor Emeritus of History at Simmons University.
Holding degrees from Wayne State University, the University of Michigan
and Harvard University, Prof. Solomon has written five books, including

*“Trans Day of Remembrance”
with Letta Neely*

The Transgender Day of Remembrance, is a day to memorialize those who
have been murdered as a result of transphobia. The day was founded
twenty-three years ago in 1999 to bring attention to the unsolved murder
of transgender woman Rita Hester in Allston, MA and to the continued
violence endured by transgender people. Join us as we discuss ways in
which we can ensure that all people can live safely, authentically, and
free from discrimination.

*Letta Neely* is an Earthling. She is also a proud Black-n-Queer poet,
playwright, director, teacher, activist, and performer. Twice a finalist
for the Lambda Literary Award for poetry, she was named one of The

*"Bob D'Attilio Day”*

/Sacco and Vanzetti International Scholar/

On the second anniversary of his passing, we commemorate and celebrate
the life of Robert D’Attilio. We open our house for Bob's diverse wealth
of friends, family and colleagues, to see the amazing legacy of research
materials, Sacco and Vanzetti archival documents, correspondence, and
the treasure trove of books he left for us to enjoy, including every
topic under the sun. Because of Covid, and the circumstances around his
passing, many of Bob's friends did not get a chance to really gather and
grieve or celebrate his remarkable life. We will do just that on Nov.
27, and reflect on his enormous contribution to the legacy of Sacco and
Vanzetti in the City of Boston.
