discussion:
Brazil is emerging from the recent Presidential inauguration in a
polarized state. In Brazil, 1% of the population receives about 28% of
the country’s income, resulting in the second-highest income
concentration in the world. Brazil’s 6 richest men have the same amount
of wealth as the bottom 50% of the population.
On top of that, hundreds of fascists and ultra-rightist thugs recently
stormed the capitol complex and trashed federal buildings. However,
working people are organizing as well to counter the overall drive
against them. Criticism of the new administration from the left is on
the rise. Class conflict will continue. Please join in a discussion of
the political polarization, and the developing class struggle in Brazil.
Hear Fabio Boscoreporting from Brazil.
Fabio is the former president of the Transit Workers Union in Sao Paulo
and has been a union militant for decades. He is also a co-founder of
the United Socialist Workers' Party of Brazil (PSTU), founded in 1994.
