*CCB SUNDAYS & More*
*3/5: "Stories from the Americans
Who Tell the Truth Portrait Project"
with Robert Shetterly*
*Sunday, March 5th at 11 AM:
“Stories from the Americans Who Tell the Truth
Portrait Project"
with Robert Shetterly*
Robert will talk about the origins of the Americans Who Tell the Truth
(AWTT) portrait project; what it was 21 years ago; what it is now; and
talk about the lives of some of the people he has painted. The stories
will highlight the courageous efforts of people to close the gap between
what we say as a country and what we do. Featured will be some of
the portraits he's painted.
*• Robert Shetterly *is from Cincinnati, Ohio and a graduate from
Harvard College with a degree in English Literature but he took courses
in drawing which changed the direction of his life from the written word
to the image. Shetterly has engaged in a wide variety of political and
humanitarian work with many of the people whose portraits he has
painted. In the spring of 2007, he traveled to Rwanda with Lily Yeh and
Terry Tempest Williams to work in a village of survivors of the 1994
genocide there. And he has twice been to refugee camps in the West Bank,
Palestine, to do art projects. Since 1990, he has been the President of
the Union of Maine Visual Artists, and a producer of the UMVA’s Maine
Masters Project, an on-going series of video documentaries about Maine
artists.

*“How to Save a Planet (Before It's Too Late)”
with Julia Hansen*
We’re living in a time of global crisis. We bear witness to the effects
of our government’s inability to respond to the existential threats of
climate and ecological emergency. Facing these threats alone can be
overwhelming. Come to hear more about what humanity is facing in the
next decade, what has to happen to prevent catastrophe, and to connect
with others who are wrestling with these truths. You are not alone.
*• Julia Hansen***is a climate activist with Extinction Rebellion. After
years of doom-scrolling through increasingly bad news on climate, she
has found purpose, optimism and joy in taking non-violent direct action

environment we rely upon is destroyed. Julia works for a carbon
consultancy firm in Boston.
