Celebrating Love: Across Caste and Religious Divides 

Inter-religious or inter-caste marriage is against the social dogma around Southasia. In India, only 5% marriages are inter-caste or inter-religious. Many of these couples often go through tremendous social, family, and psychological pressures. Many of them have died in what are called "honor killings". Gay and queer couples are also subjected to all kinds of atrocities. Speakers will discuss these aspects and will discuss the power of love that is not bound by caste, religion, or sexual orientation.

This event is a collaboration between Boston South Asian Coalition (BSAC), Boston Study Group (BSG), Sapan and Muslims for Progressive Values (MPV). The goal of this event is to talk about challenges that are faced by interfaith/inter caste couples and families and how our work creates inclusion across castes and religious divides.
