Do you know that Massachusetts taxpayers give nearly $130 million to Israel EVERY YEAR?  This is our proportional share of the $3.8 billion that the US gives Israel annually, and we think it could be better used at home.

 

This is the message we will be taking to the streets and to the US Senators on November 29, the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People and we hope you can join us.

 

When:              Monday, Nov. 29, 12:30 PM

Where:             Downtown Crossing in Boston

What:  We will hear brief remarks from speakers and then at 1:15 march to the JFK Federal Building in Government Center where we will deliver a letter to Senators Warren and Markey that has already been signed by more than 2 dozen groups.

 

The event is sponsored by the Alliance, DSA-Boston, JVP-Boston, Mass Peace Action and the Boston Palestine Solidarity Network.

Dear Friend,

Do you know that the US gives Israel at least $3.8 billion in military aid every year, and that New England taxpayers contribute $264 million of that amount, with Massachusetts leading the way with a yearly $130 million contribution?

 

Most of these funds are used to buy the US weapons that help Israel sustain its 54-year-long occupation, and kill and oppress Palestinians. 

 

And at a time when our tax dollars are urgently needed at home to help families feed themselves, avoid eviction and cope with rising health care costs, we may soon be contributing even more to a country with a per capita GDP exceeding $43,000 that ranks in the world’s top 20 economies. 

 

While Congress refuses to pass President Biden’s social spending bill that would benefit Americans and fight climate change, it is poised to give Israel another $1 billion for the Iron Dome system, produced by MA-based Raytheon.
