Dear Activist,

In Newark, NJ, you can find a fracked gas plant, a sewage treatment facility, an animal fat rendering plant, and multiple chemical storage facilities all in the same one-mile stretch.

And just one mile away from these hazards live 55,000 people in a diverse, multi-ethnic, mainly working-class neighborhood called the Ironbound. This community faces some of the most toxic conditions in the entire country.

The powerful new film The Sacrifice Zone follows Honduran-American activist and Ironbound resident Maria Lopez-Nuñez and her community's fight against the use of low-income communities of color as dumping grounds for what our society produces, consumes, and throws away.

<https://act.nrdc.org/go/28021?t=2&akid=16453%2E2192069%2E0nslBe> You are invited to an exclusive screening of The Sacrifice Zone and a subsequent discussion with environmental justice leaders that will take a deep look at the injustices affecting low-income communities and communities of color in Newark and beyond — and what we must do to reverse this legacy of injustice.
