Hello!

The Development Department at Gay & Lesbian Advocates & Defenders is
looking for a Special Events Intern to help raise the funds that enable
GLAD to meet our mission.  This is a great opportunity for someone who
wants to have an impact on these issues in a very practical way.  Join us
and learn about or gain further experience in special events fundraising
and non-profit development.

*Responsibilities*

-Procure and track 180+ silent auction items with an overall value of
$60,000
-Outreach to auction donors through mailings, telephone, canvassing and
emails
-Research auction donor prospects and add to donor database (Raiser’s Edge)

-Onsite coordination of event volunteers at Summer Party and Spirit of
Justice Award Dinner
-Provide registration support at GLAD’s regional events and major donor
events
-Collect RSVPs for events and add to donor database

-Solicit event sponsors through mailings, telephone, and emails
-Assist with donor acknowledgement mailings
-Research and update corporate sponsorship contacts in donor database
-Prepare Spirit of Justice Award Dinner corporate sponsorship packets

-Perform other tasks as needed to carry out fundraising objectives for
entire organization

*Qualifications*
The ideal candidate will have a strong desire to work in non-profit
development and preferably some background in an administrative office
setting.  The ability to take direction, show initiative and follow through
in a dynamic environment is a must. Excellent attention to detail and a
willingness to ask questions are also critical.


Ongoing training and supervision will be provided.  Dress code is casual.

*Schedule*
Spring-Summer or just Summer internship. Start date in February or later.
End date in mid-August. This is required since the Summer Party is the last
Saturday in July and is the event you will be most focused on. Intern
positions are 20 or 40 hours.10am-6pm, occasional evenings.  Flexible
schedule. Dependability is a must.

*Stipend*
Monthly T pass will be reimbursed for interns that commit to 20+ hours per
week.
