On the 60th Anniversary of Brown v. Topeka Board of Education, and

school buses. COME OUT AND PROTEST THURSDAY MAY 22 at 6 PM in CITY
COUNCIL CHAMBERS, BOSTON CITY HALL at the Boston City Council's
hearing on the BPS Transportation and Student Assignment budget plans
for FY 2015.

Did You Know?:

The School Committee voted on Wednesday March 26 for a budget with
$107 million in cuts.
The Boston City Council must approve it, and is holding hearings
now.
All 7th and 8th graders and many 6th graders will be pushed off of
yellow buses onto the MBTA. Over 4500 students will be affected.
When this was done in Baltimore, attendance and graduation rates
dropped . At risk students are being put at greater risk. It is not
safe.
The budget cuts also eliminate nearly 250 teachers, classroom aides
and other school-based positions.
The cuts will cause overcrowding and the elimination of needed
school programs.
Even though Roxbury, Dorchester and Mattapan are the most affected,
no hearings were scheduled in those communities.
 The Achievement Gap will widen.
Even though over 70% of the students are in Boston Public Schools,
over 40% of the funding goes to charter schools.
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! Tell the City Council you demand NO school budget
cuts!
