New York City announced last week that it is suing five oil and gas giants, joining several cities and counties in California seeking to hold fossil fuel companies accountable for their contributions to climate change. A proposal submitted by two members of the Los Angeles City Council a few days later indicates that Los Angeles may soon follow suit.

There's still time to register for the live webcast this Thursday of our panel discussion exploring whether and how the fossil fuel industry can be held liable for climate impacts.

The event will be webcasted live from the Fowler Museum at UCLA. You will receive an email with details on accessing the webcast upon registration.

Join the Union of Concerned Scientists and the Emmett Institute on Climate Change and the Environment at University of California–Los Angeles (UCLA) School of Law for this timely and stimulating conversation. Register now!

Interested in learning more? The panel will feature scientific and legal experts, as well as perspectives from affected communities, in addressing how companies involved in the extraction, production, and marketing of fossil fuels can be held to account for the ever-mounting costs of climate harms and preparation.

Please register now, and we hope to see you this Thursday.
