For those of you that missed them at the LPC today or their other presentations around the city this week, the Beehive Design Collective is giving a presentation at Emerson College on Tuesday, November 11, sponsored by Emerson Peace & Social Justice and the Suffolk and Emerson Anti-Authoritarians. The presentation is at 216 Tremont St, Boston in the Bill Bordy Auditorium. Here is some more info:

With huge portable murals of collaboratively produced illustrations, a
six foot tall fabric picture book and an engaging narrative...the Bees
will take you on an interactive visual tour of the connections between
COLONIZATION, MILITARISM, and RESOURCE EXTRACTION in the Americas.

A picture-lecture to be understood by ANYONE...
Not just the experts and political analysts!

The
Beehive Design Collective is an all-volunteer artists' collective from
Maine. They are touring the East Coast right now to raise money to
distribute their most recent art piece, Mesoamerica Resiste.

This
event is free and open to Emerson and the Boston community. Please
bring your friends! This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to see
some amazing artists at work.

Details about the presentation:

On
tour with giant, hand-drawn, portable murals, the Bees aim to draw the
connections between colonial history and present day struggles against
corporate globalization, violence, and racism. The Beehive creates
anticopyright graphics as tools for popular analysis, education and
organizing. Their presentations and workshops are an accessible format
for unpacking how resource extraction, militarization and industrial
development in the Western Hemisphere are all interconnected and part
of the 'big picture'.

This presentation will feature a brand new
interactive graphics workshop about North-South Solidarity with scenes
from MESOAMERICA RESISTE the final epic chapter in their globalization
trilogy. The workshop will deal specifically with the local effects of
the NAFTA-style “Free Trade” zone known as Atlantica, making striking
connections with the Mesoamerican experience of “free trade” as felt
over the past decade. It takes a unique approach at examining
cross-border and cross-cultural solidarity.

Using these graphics
as a springboard for discussion and information sharing, the Beehive
Collective works to analyze and dismantle the forces at work in our
capitalist society through a metaphorical lens of stories from the
natural world. They draw clear connections between the colonial history
of the Western Hemisphere and contemporary patterns of corporate
globalization, violence, and racism.
