The Earth First! Roadshow comes to the Valley


On Thursday, April 23 and Friday, April 24 the Earth First! Roadshow will be making stops in Amherst and Florence offering presentations, performances and trainings on environmental civil disobedience.  The traveling group includes activists from various bioregions representing ecological campaigns against logging, mining, road expansion, ocean exploitation, energy infrastructure and urban development. 

On Thursday, April 23rd
the Roadshow will be at the O'Connor Commons in Charles Pratt Dormitory at Amherst College from 4:30PM-6:30PM in and then at 7:30PM with direction action workshops. For more information on this event email: aayden11 at amherst.edu

On Friday the Earth First! Roadshow will be at The Evolution Café in Florence at 6pm. following a tour of state lands threatened by clear-cutting. For information on this event email: enviroshow at valleyfreeradio.org


Last year, ex-Vice President Al Gore called the blockading of construction sites of new power plants as an appropriate response to the environmental crisis facing the planet. But this was no new mandate to Earth First!, who has been advocating grassroots direct action to protect and restore the planet for near 30 years. Earth First! was named in 1979 in response to a lethargic, compromising and increasingly corporate environmental community. Earth First! takes a decidedly different tack towards environmental issues using all the tools in the tool box, ranging from grassroots organizing and involvement in the legal process to civil disobedience and monkeywrenching..
