THE COMMUNITY CHURCH OF BOSTON
SUNDAY SPEAKERS FORUM presents...

Sunday, October 18th, 2009
11:00am

Non-Violence or Violence to Resolve Conflict (part I)
SUZANNE BELOTE SHANLEY
"Non-Violence and Reconciliation with Nations at War"

Suzanne Shanley was co-founder in 1982 with her husband of the Agape
Community, now at Ware, MA. Agape is a "lay Catholic, residential community
which includes ecumenical outreach and practice, rooted in a vision of
prayer, evangelical simplicity, non-violent education & witness in the
world." At its core is simple and sustainable living; the healing power of
nature and solitude; and mindful listening, conflict resolution & mediation
as a solution to personal, societal & world problems.

Agape folk participate in actions against war, peace vigils, tax resistance
& civil disobedience when called. The community will have just hosted its
annual St. Francis Day celebration--an Interfaith Dialogue on War and Peace
to include a Rabbi, an Imam, a Quaker, a Jesuit, peacemaker Kathy Kelly &
two young peace activists, former enemies from Palestine and Israel.
