Kicking off Global Day of Service 2012, Boston University will honor its
long standing commitment to service by featuring international activist
and Partners In Health co-founder Paul Farmer.

Farmer, a physician and anthropologist with nearly 30 years of
experience working in Haiti, will discuss the challenges facing the
Caribbean nation after the January 2010 earthquake. Farmer will discuss
questions such as, Why was Haiti so vulnerable on the eve of the
earthquake? and Might Haiti build back better after the earthquake?

This lecture is a part of the School of Social Works annual Hubie Jones
Lecture in Urban Health. The series honors the vision of Hubie Jones,
dean emeritus of Boston University's School of Social Work, who inspired
and shaped the schools urban mission during his 16-year tenure, and who
continues to influence and define the social and civic landscape of
Boston as a leader, bridge-builder, and advocate.
