 Just a quick reminder about tonight's candlelight vigil and Mass in East
Boston. *This is the final event before the contract covering 14,000 New
England janitors expires at midnight tonight. A strike could begin as early
as Monday.*

The sunset candlelight vigil and march to Holy Redeemer should provide
strong visuals for photo/video. State Treasurer Steve Grossman and other
elected leaders will headline the speaking program, along with affected
workers.

Janitors Facing Potential Strike*

*Hundreds of affected workers and community allies to proceed to Holy
Redeemer Church for Catholic Mass officiated by Bishop Robert Hennessey*




EAST BOSTON, MA — Just six hours before the contract covering 14,000 New
England janitors is set to expire, faith leaders, elected officials and
community members will join together *Today – Sunday at 6:15pm at East
Boston’s LoPresti Park* for a candlelight vigil in support of affected
workers. SEIU Local 615 President Rocio Saenz and State Treasurer Steven
Grossman are scheduled to address the crowd of hundreds before janitors
lead a candlelight procession to Most Holy Redeemer Church, located just
blocks away.



At Most Holy Redeemer, Bishop Robert Hennessey will officiate a Catholic
Mass in support of the workers – beginning with a blessing of the janitors’
brooms.
