Boston’s Human Rights Day 

Commemorate the 64 th Anniversary of the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights 

Join Human Rights City Boston & Beyond and Councilor Charles Yancey on Monday December 10 th at noon at Boston City Hall 




A reading of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights will take place at noon in the Main Gallery of Boston City Hall. A second reading of the declaration will commence outside City Hall shortly after so make sure to bundle up! 

We hope to see you there in honor and celebration of human rights for ALL!

Human Rights City Boston and Beyond participants include: Survivors Inc., Mass Global Action, Mel King, Dudley Street Neighborhood Initiative, Rainbow Coalition, Union of Minority Neighborhoods, Mass Welfare Rights Union, and the Greater Boston Chapter of the Green-Rainbow Party 



The City of Boston will commemorate Human Rights Day on Monday, December 10 th from 12:00 until 12:30 at Boston City Hall in the Main Gallery. Human Rights Day commemorates the 64 th anniversary of the adoption of the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Boston, in 2011, declared itself a Human Rights City dedicated to upholding the Declaration and its 30 articles. Boston City Councillor Charles Yancey and the human rights advocacy group 'Human Rights City Boston and Beyond' will facilitate the reading of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Mel King, educator and activist will speak. King invites you to join us in this reading in the interest of our larger human community. Michael Kane, Executive Director of the National Alliance of HUD Tenants will also speak. Kane urges our elected representatives to ratify the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights. An outdoor reading will be held immediately following the indoor reading.
