*Luis Alberto Montero CabreraLuis Alberto Montero Cabrera* is a 
Professor of Chemistry as well as a Senior Researcher at the University 
of Havana.  He is a Merit Member and Coordinator of Natural and Exact 
Sciences of the Cuban Academy of Sciences, President of the Advisory 
Scientific Council of the University of Havana, member of the Advisory 
Scientific Council of the University of Information Sciences, and member 
of the Cuban Society of Physics. Journal Reviewer for Revista Cubana de 
Química, Revista CNIC de Ciencias Químicas, Journal of Molecular 
Structure, among other journals. Invited lecturer and Professor of 
several foreign Universities from Germany, Spain, United Kingdom, 
Nicaragua, and the United States among others. His specialization is 
Computational Chemistry and Physics. He has appeared in several 
international programs explaining Cuba’s scientific approach and 
research in treatments and vaccines for SARS-CoV-2 and written 
extensively for Cubadebate and elsewhere on Cuba’s successful vaccine 
development.

Each week will start with a short presentation, followed by plenty of 
time for questions and dialogue.  The discussion will be moderated by 
Cole Harrison (Massachusetts Peace Action), Sandra Levinson (Center for 
Cuban Studies), and Gloria Caballero (Latin American Solidarity 
Coalition of W. Mass)

Like the rest of the world, Havana and Cuba have just completed the 
first full year of Covid 19.  It has done so with the full force of the 
U.S. embargo on its neck, including additional measures enacted by the 
Trump administration and so far not modified or removed by the Biden 
administration.  What has Havana been like the past year?  What is it 
like now? What have been the major challenges and achievements?
